At GoodLeaf Farms we are focused on producing local and ultra-fresh greens, without pesticides. We do this in an innovative way using efficient vertical farming. Our greens are delivered to stores and restaurants just hours after harvest meaning you get the tastiest, most nutritious product possible. We have farms in Bible Hill, NS and Guelph, ON and are rapidly growing.

 We are looking for an HR and Safety Coordinator to join our team at our Bedford, NS office. This is a newly created position offering the successful candidate a diverse range of experience in recruitment, benefits, compensation, safety, and hands-on experience in multi-faceted areas of HR.

Reporting to the Director, HR, the HR and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for:

  • Assisting with the recruiting process: development of recruitment plans, booking interviews, checking references, preparing offers, and setting up new hire files;

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with recruitment partners, internally and externally;

  • Leading the on-boarding process for new hires;

  • Assisting with the creation and updating of job descriptions;

  • Conducting HR and Safety research on best practices in food production facilities;

  • Coordinating and leading the health and safety committee;

  • Assisting with the tracking, coordinating and booking of training for new and existing staff;

  • Maintaining employee reports: new hire, turnover, attendance, absentee reports and other data as needed;

  • Assisting with the bi-weekly payroll verification process;

  • Organizing company social events;

  • Assisting with employee travel plans: booking flights, hotels, car rental, etc.;

  • Assisting with employee benefit questions, and benefit meetings;

  • Other projects and duties as assigned by the HR Department



  • 1-3 years of working experience in Human Resources in a fast-paced deadline driven environment;

  • Completion of a college or university degree program with a focus on Human Resources or other related discipline;

  • Fresh graduates from an HR focused program will also be considered. Co-operative Education work-terms or college work-terms completed in the field of HR are a definite asset
