Idea Planted // Seed? (make joke)
After several years working reactively in the healthcare devices industry, GoodLeaf Founder Gregg Curwin went about searching for a way to proactively affect the healthcare system in a positive way.
Gregg was inspired by the work already underway on indoor-hydroponic farming in Japan, and quickly set about bringing the idea to Canada.
Research & Development
For several years, the GoodLeaf team conducted small trials designed to determine the optimum conditions for plant growth, plant varieties best suited to indoor growing, and the commercial viability of indoor-vertical farming.
Pilot R&D Facility
In 2015, GoodLeaf constructed it's first large-scale pilot facility in a renovated building in Bible Hill, Nova Scotia. This facility was designed to test GoodLeaf's initial learnings on a larger, commercial scale while also providing the opportunity to continue research and development of new varieties and processes.

Large Commercial Facility
In 2017, design and development commenced on GoodLeaf's first large-scale, fully commercialized vertical farm. This facility would be built from the ground-up, and incorporate the several years of learnings from GoodLeaf's Pilot R&D Facility.
Guelph Farm Launch
In May 2019, after a year of construction and commissioning, GoodLeaf's first full-scale commercial farm opened in Guelph, Ontario supplying microgreens and baby greens to Ontarians.
