About the Role:
As an industrial mechanic, you will play a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency of our plant. You will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance tasks, troubleshooting machinery, and ensuring the overall reliability of the equipment essential to our production processes.
Responsibilities (but not limited to…):
Maintenance and Equipment Upkeep
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks on various industrial machines—including conveyors, pumps, motors, and production equipment—in order to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and efficiently resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to minimize production interruptions and maintain continuous operations.
- Equipment Installation and Repair: Participate in the installation and repair of new and existing equipment, ensuring that all machines comply with safety and operational standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment repairs, and parts usage to support the development of an effective maintenance history.
- Collaboration: Work closely with fellow maintenance team members and other departments throughout the farm to understand equipment requirements, provide technical support, contribute to overall process improvement, and support collective development by actively sharing knowledge and skills.
Safety Compliance
- Comply at all times and without exception with all applicable safety rules and procedures, including sanitation procedures, occupational health and safety standards, and good manufacturing practices.
- Adhere to the internal food safety and occupational health and safety policies established by GoodLeaf Farms.
- Report any equipment, facility, or process that presents a hazard or defect to your supervisor.
- Ensure equipment is functioning properly and poses no food safety risk, including by using only food‑grade lubricants.
Any other related duties.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- Diploma of Professional Studies in Electromechanics or equivalent
- Any additional certification (Red Seal, Class C license) would be considered an asset
- Practical knowledge and experience with automated equipment and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Ability to work effectively within a team and support colleagues– Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on both internal and external customer service
- Experience in various industrial environments, preferably in a food processing facility
- Proven ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing priorities
- Strong problem‑solving skills– Excellent technical abilities, including troubleshooting and repair
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and analytical abilities
- Creativity and an innovative mindset
- General knowledge of food processing operations in a manufacturing environment
- Commitment to complying with all food safety regulations and procedures
