About the Role:
The Team Lead (production) isresponsible for working with the Production Supervisor to oversee and optimizeproduction operations at the Guelph farm. This role involves leading and coaching a team of Production Associates,ensuring adherence to production targets, quality standards, and safetyregulations. They will demonstrate strong leadership, problem-solving, andcommunication skills.
Responsibilities (but not limited to…):
Production Management:
o Oversee daily production operations to meet or exceed established targets for output, quality, and efficiency.
o Monitor production processes and identify areas for improvement.
o Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team performance.
o Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to develop and implement production plans and schedules.
Team Leadership:
o Lead, mentor, and coach a team of Production Associates to maximize their potential and performance.
o Provide on-the-job training and development opportunities for team members.
o Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
o Address team member concerns and resolve conflicts promptly and fairly.
Quality Assurance:
o Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), and Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.
o Conduct regular quality checks and inspections.
o Identify and address quality issues in a timely manner.
Continuous Improvement:
o Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
o Analyze production processes and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost reduction.
o Participate in problem-solving and root cause analysis activities.
Safety:
o Champion a safe work environment by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
o Conduct safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
o Provide safety training to team members.
· Other assigned duties & VFT tasks as required by the production shift.
· Follows and complies with all GoodLeaf Farms, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Provincial and Company Health and Safety standards and Company Safe Quality Foods standards and guidelines.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
· Secondary school diploma or equivalent is required. Completion of post-secondary education is an asset.
· Demonstrating understanding on KPI’s, GMP, Health and Safety, Food Safety, Quality, HACCP, Waste Rate and Run Rates
· Willing to learn, lead and support driving the implementation of lean manufacturing and best practices on the floor (5S, DDS and DMS meetings, Kaizen, OEE, etc)
· 1-3 years of leadership experience. Preference is given to occupational leadership experience in a food manufacturing facility.
· The successful candidate will possess a high degree of initiative and positive attitude, is self-motivated and works well under pressure.
· Safe, licensed operation of powered industrial vehicles (an asset). If not, willing to be trained.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP is an asset, if not willing to be trained.
· Previous experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment is required.
· High degree of organizational skills with focused oriented movement towards the common goal.
· Strong Communication and problem-solving
· Ability to work in fast paced environments, multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
· Critical thinking and analytical skills
· Demonstrates importance of attendance and punctuality by arriving at work on time and for each shift.
