About the Role:
Reporting to the Vice-President, Sales, the Sales Strategy Lead will be an integral part of the company’s sales team. This role will be responsible for defining and leading category growth strategies, translating data and insights into strong presentations, providing commercial and cross-functional support, and developing dashboards and reports that effectively track performance and identify risks and opportunities. The position may also involve periodic travel for customer meetings, trade shows or in-store visits.
Responsibilities (but not limited to…):
Category Strategy & Vision
- Define and lead category growth strategies that align with the company’s commercial priorities.
- Translate consumer, retailer, and competitive insights into clear, actionable strategies for the sales team and broader organization.
Insights & Analytics
- Build strong category and market insight capability, integrating syndicated data, retailer insights, and competitive intelligence.
- Use forecasting and analytics to inform decisions on pricing, assortment, promotions, and trade spend.
- Provide category stories and insights to strengthen customer engagement and joint business planning.
Commercial Support
- Partner with Sales leadership and NAMs to develop tailored strategies and compelling customer presentations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain to ensure strategies are executable and margin-conscious.
- Support preparation for key retailer meetings, delivering insight-driven recommendations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a connector between Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure alignment of category opportunities.
- Work closely with external partners, brokers, and retailers to surface opportunities and strengthen relationships.
Performance Tracking
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to track category performance and promotional effectiveness.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities early, providing proactive recommendations.
Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field.
- Must be willing to work in-office when required.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate market data into actionable insights.
- Experience conducting good market research and data analysis.
- Excellent project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of fresh food trends and consumer preferences is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to strategically plan and develop business cases.
- Good cross-functional team collaboration.
- Easily adapts an effective communication style to various audiences – customers, executives, colleagues.
- Able to travel across borders when required and may involve periodic travel for customer meetings, tradeshows, or in-store visits.
- Previous sales enablement experience is preferred.
- Manufacturing experience in a food manufacturer with short shelf-life products is preferred
