Roles & Responsibilities
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and machinery, including motors, pumps, conveyors, and production lines.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot automation and electrical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions to resolve problems promptly.
- Electrical Repairs: Conduct electrical repairs and component replacements as needed, ensuring compliance with safety standards and protocols.
- Electrical Systems: Maintain and upgrade electrical systems, including control panels, switches, and circuits, to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Automation Systems: Install, configure, and maintain Allen-Bradley PLC systems, distributed IO devices, and 3rd party controllers. Also, monitor and troubleshoot SCADA systems to ensure real-time process control and data acquisition. You will also identify and resolve issues with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to optimize motor control and energy efficiency.
- Automation Design & Implementation: Assist in the design and implementation of control system upgrades and modifications.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance team and throughout the facility.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, repair history, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other maintenance team members and production staff to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimize production downtime.
- Emergency Response: Be available for on-call duty to respond to electrical emergencies and breakdowns outside of regular working hours.
- Electrical Systems: Pull and to route electrical cables from main and sub-panels to designated locations.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid Industrial Electrician 442A certificate.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an industrial electrician, experience in food industry considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Allen-Bradley PLC systems, distributed IO devices, and 3rd party controllers, and automation controls in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP operations systems, and HMI design, experience in SCADA considered an asset.
- Experience in a variety of industrial settings, preferably including a food processing operation
- Skilled communicator and leader with strong written and verbal communication abilities, natural leadership qualities, and excellent team management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
- Technically adept and solutions-focused, with strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving capabilities, and a creative, analytical mindset for troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing operations.
- Highly organized and results-driven, demonstrating attention to detail, adaptability to shifting priorities, compliance with safety and food regulations, and general knowledge of plant and food/beverage processing operations
