What we are looking for

Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the Industrial Millwright is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance functions of the facility and ensuring all equipment is functional to meet production and business needs.  The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assisting the Farm Engineer & Maintenance Manager in building and maintaining all preventive maintenance programs for the Farm.

What you will be doing

  • Install, maintain, and repair automated food processing equipment;

  • Troubleshoot operational equipment malfunctions and enact repairs as required;

  • Perform scheduled maintenance tasks to ensure equipment reliability;

  • Record observations regarding the condition and reliability of equipment;

  • Work independently to complete repair requests and do planned projects;

  • Enhance equipment performance by recommending and enacting improvements;

  • Document work on a computerized maintenance management system;

  • Directly help the facility to meet targets and goals;

  • Other duties as determined necessary by farm requirements

Safety (Food, OHS) & Production:

  • Adhere, safeguard, and comply with the Standard Sanitization Operating Procedures, Standard Operation Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Good Manufacturing Practice at all times without exception;

  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations at all times, and without exception;

  • Ensure the safe use and storage of all cleaning supplies;

  • Follow GoodLeaf Farms Employee Practices and Food Safety Policy and Occupational Health and Safety Policy;

  • Report unsafe and faulty equipment, fixtures, and processes to supervisor;

  • Follow practices that enable GoodLeaf Farms to achieve production goals;

  • Ensure equipment runs as intended and possess no risk to food safety by only use food grade lubricants

Education and Qualifications

  • Candidates must hold a valid certificate of qualification as an Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A or an Industrial Electrician 442A; 

  • Any other applicable Red Seal trade certification would be considered an asset; 

  • Possess practical knowledge and experience with automated equipment and PLCs; 

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and support fellow team members; 

  • Effective communication skills, with a focus on customer service; 

  • Experience in a variety of industrial settings, preferably including a food processing operation
