Sanitation Technician (VFT) (Afternoon/Evening) - Guelph, ON

Job Type:  Full Time / Permanent

Schedule: 12pm - 12am (Noon - Midnight)

Shift: Rotational (2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off)

What we are looking for

As a VFT I (sanitation), you will be responsible for ensuring that our facility is kept clean and sanitized according to SQF, CFIA, and HACCP protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for our team members and any customers or guests of the farm. 

Responsibilities:

  • Follow established cleaning and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with SQF, CFIA, and HACCP protocols 

  • Ensure all work done is aligned with sanitization excellence using GMP’s (Good Manufacturing practices) as guiding principles to ensure sanitization standards are consistently and safely achieved;  

  • Use proper cleaning equipment, chemicals, and protective gear to safely and effectively clean equipment, floors, walls, and other areas of the facility 

  • Remove waste and debris from the facility and dispose of it in accordance with regulatory requirements 

  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify areas that require additional attention and report any issues to the appropriate supervisor 

  • Maintain accurate records of cleaning and sanitation activities for regulatory compliance 

  • Participate in training sessions on safe sanitation practices, food safety, and other related topics 

  • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that the facility is cleaned and sanitized in a timely manner 

  • Reporting unsafe and faulty equipment, fixtures, and processes to supervisor 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Lead (sanitation) or Sanitation Supervisor 

  • Follows and complies with all GoodLeaf Farms, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Provincial and Company Health and Safety standards and Company Safe Quality Foods standards and guidelines. 

  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to validate that sanitation procedures comply with routine swab testing standards. 

  • Coordinate with the Production team to ensure all production activities are completed prior to initiating sanitation procedures. 

  • All other duties as assigned 

Qualifications & Education

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent 

  • Previous experience in a food production facility, specifically in sanitation or cleaning 

  • Knowledge of SQF, CFIA, and HACCP protocols is nice to have 

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written 

  • Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established protocols 

  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in a standing position for extended periods of time 

  • Must be able to work a 12-hour rotational afternoon shift, 12:00PM (noon) – 12:00AM (midnight). Rotational schedule is 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 3 days off. 

  • Able to excel in a fast paced, changing environment  

  • Reliable and highly efficient. 

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
